Blues heroes – including goalscorers Lampard, Toure, and Clichy – race back from Southampton game to attend James Milner Foundation Ball
Manchester City’s high-flyers celebrated their 3-0 Premier League away win over Southampton in style – after jetting back home to attend James Milner’s glitzy charity bash.
The Blues stars dashed onto a plane back to Manchester after the final whistle in Southampton to make it in time for the Vegas-themed ball on Sunday night.
And they certainly had plenty to celebrate with all three goal-scorers, Gael Clichy, Yaya Toure and Frank Lampard, attending the EventCity ball with their glamorous partners.
James, who hosted his annual ball with partner Amy, admitted he and his teammates had raced against time to get suited and booted back to the ball.
He told the M.E.N.: “Yes, it was a bit of a dash from Southampton but we’re here ultimately and it was a good result which is obviously great and sets up the evening nicely.
“It was a great result, but we’ve got a game on Wednesday so we’ve got one eye on that, and we just hope everyone has a good night.”
City hero Frank arrived with glamorous TV presenter fiancée Christine Bleakley, who looked stunning in a strapless black dress.
He said: “Tonight is for a great cause and of course it’s nice to come off the back of an important win today and for us all to be here for James. It was exactly the result we wanted and means we can celebrate tonight – although in a very sensible way as we’ve got another important game on Wednesday.”
It’s the third year James and Amy have held the ball, with charities the NSPCC, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and Help for Heroes all benefitting through his James Milner Foundation.
Blues captain Vincent Kompany arrived with stunning wife Carla in a black and white print minidress. He said: “It’s been hectic today but in the best of senses. You get a win, and then get to come here and support a good cause – it’s the perfect day.”
Vincent had earlier hobbled off the pitch at St Mary’s with a suspected hamstring twinge, but when asked about the injury said: “We’ll see about that tomorrow. Tonight is about smiley faces.”
The black tie event, organised by Entertainment Today, included performances from rock band Kaiser Chiefs and former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke.
James said: “It’s been a great evening of entertainment and it’s great to have such good support from the team.”
